Record a processing run

When to use it

Use this guide when you need to record a processing run.

Before you start

  • Open Raw Inventory from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.
  • Use measured production figures; saving a run affects raw and processed stock.

What this changes

The processing run records raw stock used, resulting output, and the difference recorded as waste.

Saving a processing run consumes raw stock and records processed output and waste. It can also create supporting stock movement and waste records.

Steps

  1. Open Value Addition → Raw Inventory and find the correct SKU (the code for a particular product, grade, and unit) and internal order.
  2. Select Process.
  3. Enter the processing date, resulting SKU, input quantity, and output quantity in kilograms.
  4. Check the available raw quantity and the difference between input and output, then select Process Inventory.
  5. Review the raw and processed stock records and the recorded waste and yield.

Restrictions

Input must be positive and cannot exceed available raw stock. Output cannot be negative or exceed input. The processing date and resulting SKU are required.

If something went wrong

  1. Compare the processing run with the actual input, output product/grade, quantities, units, date and loss. Check whether the run already exists before recording it again.
  2. If not yet saved, correct the form before Process Inventory. If saved, stop further processing of the affected raw and processed stock while Production and Inventory check the result.
  3. The processing screen has no supported edit or undo for a saved run. Give the owners the run, internal order, supporting movement/waste references and correct measurements.
  4. Do not reverse only the automatically created movement or waste adjustment as a substitute for undoing the processing run. Those records can be supporting records without a separate stock effect.

What the correction changes

A saved run changes raw and processed stock and records its loss. Automatically created supporting movement/waste records are not independent copies of the production stock change.

What still needs follow-up

Review processed goods already sold, later runs, waste, cost reports and accounting with Production, Inventory and Finance. Agree a correction for the complete run rather than repeating only one child record.

Check the correction

Compare measured input/output/waste with the saved run and raw/processed stock histories. Check later customer demand and orders; confirm neither output nor waste was counted twice.
