Create a message campaign

When to use it

Use this guide when you need to create a message campaign.

Before you start

  • Open Bulk Messaging from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.

What this changes

The campaign is saved as a draft. Creating it does not send text messages.

A campaign saves message text and recipient choices. Preparing recipients, submission and approval do not by themselves confirm that recipients received a message.

Steps

  1. Open Bulk Messaging and select Create campaign.
  2. In Setup & message, enter the campaign name and message. Read the phone preview and estimated SMS count, then select Continue.
  3. In Recipients, choose Customers, Suppliers, or Custom upload. For customers or suppliers, choose the relevant filters and any exclusions.
  4. Select Continue and review the message and audience. These cannot be edited after saving.
  5. Select Create draft. Prepare and review recipients on the campaign page before sending.

Restrictions

You need permission to add or edit Bulk Messaging. A name and message are required; the message can contain up to 1,600 characters. If the saved content is wrong, cancel the draft and create a corrected campaign.

If something went wrong

Before Create draft, correct the message and audience. After an uncertain save, check the campaign list before creating another draft.

Saved message text and audience cannot be edited on this screen. If either is wrong, use Cancel campaign while eligible, confirm its cancellation, then create the corrected draft. Prepare and review recipients on the replacement before submission or sending. If sending has already started, follow Sending recovery.

Check the correction

Check cancellation of the incorrect draft, then compare the replacement message, audience and recipient count. Creating a replacement does not stop the original campaign.
