Reverse customer order inventory
When to use it
Use this guide when you need to reverse customer order inventory.
Before you start
- Open Orders from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.
- Confirm the whole-order correction with Sales, Inventory and Finance before proceeding. This action also cancels the order.
What this changes
A successful reversal corrects the order’s linked stock entries, records the reason and marks the order Cancelled. Later stock costs are queued for recalculation.
A saved order records the customer’s requested items and prices. Saving a browser draft does not create an order. Later dispatch, delivery, invoicing and payment affect other records.
Steps
- Open the correct order and choose More actions → Reverse inventory.
- Enter a clear Reason explaining the correction.
- Check the order reference before selecting Reverse inventory.
- Check the result and the relevant inventory records before any further adjustment.

Restrictions
This needs permission to manage inventory and a reason. It also cancels the order. It does not refund a customer payment or recall delivered goods; review payments, invoices and delivery separately with their owners.
If something went wrong
After an error or unclear Reverse inventory, reopen the original order and inspect its Cancelled status and stock history before repeating it. Reversal may have succeeded before a later calculation failed.
If the wrong order was reversed, give Sales, Inventory and Finance its reference and correct delivery/payment evidence. There is no undo-reversal control here. Agree any replacement and stock correction together; do not recreate an order or record a second delivery merely to offset the reversal.
What the correction changes
Inventory reversal also cancels the order and corrects linked stock entries. It does not refund cash, recall delivered goods or automatically correct external accounting.
Check the correction
Check the original reversal entries and any agreed replacement once. Review invoices, customer credit/payments and delivered goods separately.
