Create a customer group

When to use it

Use this guide when you need to create a customer group.

Before you start

  • Open Customer Groups from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.

What this changes

The customer group is saved with its chosen delivery, pricing, and ordering settings.

Group options and category visibility affect customer ordering choices and business settings. These settings are separate from existing order quantities and payments.

Steps

  1. Select Add Group and enter Group Name and a description.
  2. Set Active and choose Pickup Locations if the group uses them.
  3. Select Add Option and choose a setting such as Minimum basket size, Delivery days, Cut off time, Delivery cut off days, Group pricing, Consolidate invoice, or blocked products.
  4. Enter the value for each selected option. Check that each option is used once and the delivery and pricing choices are correct.
  5. Select Create Group and check the saved group and options.

Restrictions

You need access to customer-group settings. The name must be unique and at least one option is required. Confirm settings with the responsible team before assigning customers to the group.

If something went wrong

Before Create Group, check the name, pickup locations and each option against the agreed customer setup. After an uncertain save, look for the existing group before creating another.

For incorrect saved settings, follow Update customer group settings. Existing option keys cannot be renamed or removed in that edit form; ask the administrator to review a wrong key rather than adding a duplicate option.

Check the correction

Reopen the group and check its active status, pickup locations and option values. Review customers already assigned to it and orders created under the wrong settings separately.
