Create a commission scheme

When to use it

Use this guide when you need to create a commission scheme.

Before you start

  • Open Commission settings from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.

What this changes

The commission scheme is saved for use in eligible commission calculations.

Schemes and payout intervals influence commission eligibility and review timing. Existing generated runs are separate records.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Commission settings and select New scheme.
  2. Enter Name and Description. Choose When is a customer eligible? and enter days or an order limit where the chosen policy needs them.
  3. Set any Active from and Active to dates. The end date must not be before the start date.
  4. Use Add ordered rule to define each rule: its name, Rate %, optional Cap (KES), grade, and excluded products.
  5. Choose who qualifies: By role or Select employees. Review rule order because it controls which rule is checked first.
  6. Select Save scheme and check the saved rules and active state.

Restrictions

You need permission to edit commission schemes. At least one rule is required; employee selection must contain an eligible employee. Saving a scheme does not generate or pay a commission run.

If something went wrong

Before Save scheme, compare eligibility, dates, rule order, rates, caps and staff selection with the approved policy. After an unclear save, find the scheme before creating another.

For a wrong saved rule or active state, use Edit or activate a commission scheme. If a run already used it, follow Commission-run recovery; saving the scheme does not automatically recalculate existing claims.

Check the correction

Check the saved scheme rules, dates and active state. Have Finance review existing affected claims and any approved or released payroll separately.
