Save or restore an order draft

When to use it

Use this guide when you need to save or restore an order draft.

Before you start

  • Open Orders from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.

What this changes

The unfinished form can be restored on this browser. The order is created only after the order confirmation succeeds.

A saved order records the customer’s requested items and prices. Saving a browser draft does not create an order. Later dispatch, delivery, invoicing and payment affect other records.

Steps

  1. Enter the order details and select Save Draft.
  2. When returning to the form, use Restore Draft if a saved draft is offered.
  3. Recheck dates, product availability, prices, and the customer before confirming the order. Use Discard Draft only if that draft is no longer needed.

Restrictions

A draft is a local working copy, not a submitted order. Do not rely on it being available on another computer.

If something went wrong

Before confirming a restored draft, correct any wrong customer, dates, products, units or prices in the form. Use Discard Draft only when the working copy is no longer needed.

If you are unsure whether the order was already submitted, look for its saved reference before confirming the restored draft. If it exists, follow Customer-order recovery on that order rather than saving a duplicate. A discarded local draft has no restore control described here; re-enter confirmed details only after checking no order was placed.

Check the correction

Check the form and any saved order separately. Confirm there is one active order for the intended purchase; saving/restoring a draft does not place an order.
