Edit a new customer order
When to use it
Use this guide when you need to edit a new customer order.
Before you start
- Open Orders from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.
What this changes
The existing order is updated without creating a second order.
A saved order records the customer’s requested items and prices. Saving a browser draft does not create an order. Later dispatch, delivery, invoicing and payment affect other records.
Steps
- Find the order in Sales → Orders. Open Order actions → Edit, or Edit order on its details page.
- Update the delivery information, instructions, and line items that remain editable.
- Check totals and use the form’s save action. Reopen the order to check the changes.

Restrictions
Editing is limited to New Order and requires permission to add or edit customer orders. The existing customer stays fixed.
If something went wrong
Before saving, correct the editable delivery details and line items. After an unclear save, reopen the original order and compare the changed fields before trying again.
While it remains New Order, use Edit or Edit order to save confirmed corrections. The existing customer stays fixed: for a wrong customer, review Cancel a customer order and confirm cancellation before creating the intended replacement.
If the order has advanced beyond New Order, ordinary editing is unavailable. Use Customer-order recovery for its current stage.
Check the correction
Check saved delivery details, items and totals. Review route instructions, printed documents and any invoice already based on the earlier version separately.
