Optimise reverse or lock a route plan

When to use it

Use this guide when you need to optimise reverse or lock a route plan.

Before you start

  • Open Routes from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.

What this changes

The route plan or its edit lock is updated.

Route actions change delivery planning, team assignments and stop details. Publishing makes a plan available to the driver; reversing a route changes stop order, not stock.

Steps

  1. Select an eligible route and inspect its stops.
  2. Use Optimize Route or Optimise Route to request a new stop order. Review the resulting route before saving.
  3. Use Reverse only when the intended action is to reverse the route’s stop order, and review the resulting sequence.
  4. Use the lock or unlock control to protect or allow plan changes. Check the resulting lock state.

Restrictions

Route add/edit access is required. Reversing a route sequence is not an inventory reversal. Locked sequences and completed or cancelled routes can restrict changes.

If something went wrong

After an unclear optimisation, sequence reversal or lock change, reopen the route and inspect its current stop order and lock state before repeating it.

If the new sequence is wrong, review the eligible plan controls to put stops in the intended order and save pending changes. If the wrong lock state was chosen, use the offered lock/unlock control only when the route is eligible. Give Logistics the route and intended sequence when terminal or in-progress restrictions block changes.

Check the correction

Check saved sequence, timing and lock state. Confirm the driver has the updated plan; Reverse here changes stop order and does not reverse stock or completed deliveries.
