Move stock between product grades

When to use it

Use this guide when you need to move stock between product grades.

Before you start

  • Open Stock Movement from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.
  • Confirm that the physical stock has actually changed grade or destination as described.

What this changes

A movement records stock being moved from the selected source grade to the destination grade.

Saving a normal stock movement changes both the source and destination stock. Validation records approval after that movement.

Steps

  1. Open Inventory → Stock Movement and choose Add Stock Movement.
  2. Set the date and select the source product and SKU to move to.
  3. Enter the quantity and select or enter the reason shown by the form.
  4. Check both source and destination before saving. Review the resulting movement record.

Restrictions

Creation needs stock-movement add/edit access. Source and destination matter; do not use this action as a general stock-count correction.

If something went wrong

  1. Find the movement in Inventory → Stock Movement and compare both grades, date, quantity and units with what physically moved.
  2. For an incorrect unvalidated movement entered on its own, use the eligible Delete action in Delete or reverse a movement, then check both stock balances before replacing it.
  3. For a validated movement entered on its own, ask the inventory owner to review Reverse and enter the correction reason. The visible Edit form cannot save a correction in the current system.
  4. If the destination stock was later sold or processed, review those linked tasks first. A movement created by a processing run is supporting information; reversing it alone does not undo the production run.

What the correction changes

Eligible deletion or reversal creates stock corrections for the linked movement entries and queues later costs for recalculation.

What still needs follow-up

Confirm the physical location and grade of the goods. Review downstream stock use and any exported accounting with the relevant owners.

Check the correction

Check the source and destination stock histories, not just the total across both. Confirm the original is no longer active and any replacement shows the intended quantity once.
