Manage product units
When to use it
Use this guide when you need to manage product units.
Before you start
- Open Products from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.
What this changes
Product units, weights, and prices are saved for ordering and stock conversion.
Product, grade, unit and availability settings affect how staff find, price and enter stock or orders for that item.
Steps
- Open the product edit page and its Units section.
- Choose Add Unit Variant, or use Edit beside an existing unit.
- Check the unit, minimum order quantity, weight per unit, standard-weight choice, buying price, and selling price. Save the unit.
- Select Default Unit only for the unit that should be used by default. Check any status and processing options before saving them.
- To remove an incorrect unit, use Delete, check the confirmation, and select Yes, Delete.

Restrictions
Unit changes need add/edit product access. Weight per unit affects stock quantities and costs. Do not change it merely to make stock totals match.
If something went wrong
After an unclear unit save, reopen the product's Units section and check the existing variant before adding another.
For wrong supported unit details, use the variant's Edit action and save the confirmed weight, minimum quantity and prices. Correct Default Unit only when that unit should be selected by default. Do not change weight merely to make stock totals agree.
If the wrong unit was deleted or its weight was already used in stock or orders, give Inventory the product, grade, unit and affected references before recreating or changing it. No restore control for a deleted unit is described here.
Check the correction
Check the saved unit, weight and default choice. Compare affected physical stock and saved order quantities separately; editing a unit is not a stock correction.
