Create a product
When to use it
Use this guide when you need to create a product.
Before you start
- Open Products from the module menu. Your account must have access to this screen and permission for the action you want to complete.
What this changes
A product with its grades and units is saved for use in orders and stock records.
Product, grade, unit and availability settings affect how staff find, price and enter stock or orders for that item.
Steps
- Open Inventory → Products and select Add Product.
- Enter the product name, category, product type, inventory unit, grades, specifications, tax, and partner where applicable. Select Continue.
- Complete the grade details, including the product code (SKU (the code for a particular product, grade, and unit)), descriptions, stock information, and images. Use Save and add another grade or Save and continue.
- Configure the product’s units and their weight and prices. Review the product summary and select Finish.

Restrictions
The creation steps save progressively. If interrupted, check the existing product before creating another. Unit configuration requires saved grade information.
If something went wrong
Product creation saves in stages. If a step fails or the result is unclear, find the product and inspect its saved grades and units before starting again.
Correct supported saved details through Update product and grade details, and saved unit settings through Manage product units. For a duplicate or wrong product, have Inventory review its grades, stock and linked orders before Delete; deletion is not a general undo of a partly completed setup.
Check the correction
Check the intended product, grades, codes and units in the saved summary. Confirm staff will not use an unintended duplicate.
